Branding guru Simon Anholt stunned convention centre managers when he told them the meetings industry had an image of shame and embarrassment in the current economic climate - reports meetpie.com on its website.
"Meetings venues must fundamentally change their branding by telling clients what they do, not what they are."
He told the International Association of Congress Centres (IACC) at its annual conference in A Coruna, Spain, that the brand of the industry was "a product associated with shame and embarrassment in the minds of your audience."
