Jorge Castex, who was twice President of IAPCO (1977/79 and 1990/92), has been unanimously appointed Honorary Member by the IAPCO Council.
Mr Castex, who founded Congresos Internacionales S.A. in Argentina in 1977, has been a long-standing member of IAPCO, the force behind the Argentine Association of PCOs (AOCA) and the Latin American Confederation of PCOs (COCAL).
He has been active in the conference world since the mid-sixties, when his father, a well-known surgeon, asked the young Jorge to help him organize a congress. The “rest is history” as he points out.
Mr. Castex joined IAPCO in the early days of the Association, in 1971. Since then Jorge Castex has been a believer in the Association and became very involved with its many activities, in particular as a faculty member at IAPCO’s Annual Seminar in Switzerland, which he attended for sixteen consecutive years.
He was also Chair of the IAPCO Training Academy from 2002-2005.
Jorge Castex is justly considered a mentor and an example for many professionals who met him during his long and prolific career.
In the 40 years of IAPCO, this is only the seventh Honorary Membership to have been awarded, and the first since 1996.
