G8 Summit in L'Aquila, Italy - organized by ega professional congress organisers

G8At the end of the great event which brought the World Leaders to L'Aquila, ega professional congress organisers reviews - positively - its actions.

For the G8 Summit ega has been in charge of the management of ancillary services, accommodation in hotels in Abruzzo and housing at Guardia di Finanza Coppito Campus.

The housing in particular required ega staff to elaborate e real reproduction of how a typical hotel works, in order to manage the fourteen 'hotels' created inside Coppito Campus: Milano, Roma, Trieste, Torino, Napoli, Pisa, Firenze, Venezia, Catania, Palermo, Siracusa, Cagliari, Olbia e Sassari.

Here are the most representative numbers of what has been done:

- 500 rooms at different hotels in Abruzzo,
- 11 members of the hotels' management,
- 998 rooms at Guardia di Finanza Coppito Campus (26 for each delegation, in average) of which 50 were suites,
- 42 hotel receptionists,
- 56 butlers,
- 100 bellboys,
- 120 housekeepers and 4 group leaders,
- 2994 keys,
- 5000 beddings,
- 1500 blankets,
- 5000 bath towels,
- 5000 room amenities,
- 400 job interviews,
- 24 training hours for the ancillary personnel,
- 220 hostesses and stewards selected, trained and working on site

Together with all the other G8 partners, ega has worked for the previous months and during the event by the Protezione Civile's side, with the common aim to do a great job and to try one's best so that everything could work perfectly.

It has been a very demanding activity, run in an atypical contest where the major Heads of State joined together for the first time in an unexpected location characterized by a minimum Red Zone.

A location that Delegations and Press shared for four days, which made their transfers and general mobility more complex for the personnel.

For ega the G8 Summit in L'Aquila has been the peack moment of a long period of collaboration for the organization of several events and ministerial preparatory meetings that started on January 2009 with the beginning of the Italian Presidency of the G8 and that will end on December 2009.
