La Cité Nantes Events Center operates at the heart of a territory that has, for the past twenty years, shown a strong commitment to sustainable development.
Implementation of such schemes as Agenda 21, soft and innovative transport, responsible purchasing policies, restructuring urban neighbourhoods, developing eco-friendly areas, protecting biodiversity and promoting eco-friendly hotel certification (25% of Nantes hotels have now received a green label).
The European Commission has recognized the city’s ongoing commitment and selected Nantes as “the 2013 European Green Capital".
As an influential player in the development of the territory, La Cité has committed to ambitious goals for Corporate Social Responsibility.
Besides its ideal location (in the city centre and opposite the railway station), its teams’ eco-friendly behaviour and the optimized management of its facilities (carbon footprint approved in 2010), La Cité is committed to offering environmentally responsible services at each stage of an event.
This is made possible with the assistance of our eco-consultant, specialized in corporate sustainability and footprint audit (ADEME certified).
In compliance with the French meetings industry standards, La Cité offers a range of traditional services such as : eco-friendly stands, recycling of exhibition materials, on-line registration and badge service, signage on recyclable visual aids with the Imprim’vert label, sorting of heavy recyclables, Pass’ Cité transport cards, selection of eco-friendly or recycled promotional tools, catering (including coffee breaks) based on products that are organic or locally produced or result from fair-trade practices, etc…
La Cité has taken a step further and become one of the leading convention centres in France for its carbon footprint practices towards event organisers. As an example, a carbon footprint assessment per individual is sent to the client as part of the first quotation.
La Cité has developed the tools and the competence necessary to anticipate, measure and reduce their carbon footprint:
- Training of the organizing team by La Cité’s eco-consultant
- On-line carbon footprint calculator at the time of registration
- On-site kiosk open to all delegates to calculate the carbon footprint impact based on travel/transport
- ADEME certified Carbon Footprint Appraisal
- Full carbon management of the event
- Carbon offsetting programme
La Cité’s commitment is revealed in its many certifications and credentials. With the ISO 9001 certification and the Quality & Sustainability Charter of France Congrès, and as a participant to the United Nations Global Compact initiative, La Cité is actively involved in the AIPC Quality Standard and more generally in the ISO 26000 certification.
La Cité ensures that it can best meet the national and international event organisers’ challenges in terms of social and environmental responsibility.
