Senate House London, the art deco centrepiece to the University of London, has appointed Charlie Vernon as business development manager to lead the iconic venue forward within the live events sector.
Charlie joins the organisation with significant experience in the events and hospitality sector having managed the Inner Temple and more recently opened the upscale private members club, The Irish Club.
He joins the Facilities Division and will work alongside Vicky La Trobe; an experienced market professional recognised for her work with Aramark and major international hotel brands including Choice Hotels Europe and Millennium & Copthorne Hotels.
Overseeing one of the UK’s most diverse venues, with 29 spaces and three private garden squares, Charlie is tasked with driving professionalism and hospitality standards as well as managing and developing business relationships across a client base that covers the wide gamete of live events; from filming and fashion shows to corporate and charity events.
Senate House is the University of London’s iconic art deco showpiece available for use as an events venue and location for filming. Batman 3, Nanny McPhee and Any Human Heart have all used the stunning architecture as a backdrop along with corporate events. Senate House was also centre stage at Spring’s London Fashion Week with a highly lauded runway show by Erdem Moraliglou.
Charlie Vernon, business development manager said: “This is a huge opportunity to put one of the capital’s most iconic venues firmly on the event planners’ radar. The scope and range of facilities really does help to position the venue as a one stop shop, whether a client is looking for a black tie gala dinner, an intensive training environment or a discreet private garden square”.
Alan Train, Head of Facilities commented: “We are delighted to welcome Charlie to the team; he brings a wealth of knowledge and contacts that will prove invaluable in developing awareness and business opportunities”.
