QEIICC On Course To Beat Performance Forecasts

QEIICCThe Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC) is on course to surpass profit and occupancy forecasts when its annual results are announced in June.

The venue’s performance in 2009/2010 is due to be significantly better than predicted a year ago, following a surge in late bookings, a high percentage of repeat business and the Centre’s hosting of the Iraq Inquiry.

The record figures posted by The QEIICC in 2008/2009 will make a year-on-year increase unlikely, however, with occupancy estimated to be around 8 per cent down.

Ernest Vincent, chief executive officer of The QEIICC, said: “I am hopeful that this advance notice of our expected results will help provide a confident message that the meetings and events industry can quickly return to growth. We are already seeing signs of some strong demand in the period leading up to the Olympics.”

The QEIICC last month began accepting bookings for its new inquiry suite, which has been occupied by the Iraq Inquiry since opening late last year.

Other recent initiatives aimed at providing clients with increased value for money have included a discount on room hire in the first four months of 2010 and a freeze on the catering prices of Leith’s at the Centre.
