For the previous quarter ending September 30, 2010, the Société du Palais des congrès de Montréal has confirmed it has secured five new international conventions and four national conventions.
These major events represent economic spinoffs for Montréal estimated at over $33M.
Secured primarily with the cooperation of the Société’s long-standing partner Tourisme Montréal, the conventions will result in more than 24,582 room nights being booked in hotels across the city.
“These results, which represent an 50% increase in convention bookings over the same period last year, show the effectiveness of the new strategies and the efforts deployed by the Palais and its partners in promoting Montréal as the Number One ranked host city in North America for international events,” explains Marc Tremblay, Chief Executive Officer of the Palais.
“By hosting these events, the Palais is proudly contributing to the province’s economic and intellectual development.”
The Palais posted numerous record figures in the second quarter:
- a 95% rise in the number of confirmed events
- own-source revenues of over $4.3M
- economic spinoffs of $84.4M
