Lime Venue Portfolio Engages Venues With London 2012 Experts

The-Outlook-For-2012Lime Venue Portfolio provided a fascinating insight into the business environment of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games at ‘The Outlook for 2012’ event, held at Stationers’ Hall in London on Tuesday 14th September.

The event marked the start of the ‘Olympic rush’ for business, and will give Lime Venue Portfolio attendees the edge over their competitors in the congested London market and beyond.

A panel of three expert speakers was recruited to hand out valuable tips and share specialised Olympic knowledge with representatives of the UK’s largest collection of unique venues.

Lime Venue Portfolio venues are now in pole position to take advantage of the Olympic opportunities which lay ahead in the MICE market.

After an introduction from Louise Amphlett, Head of Lime Venue Portfolio, international sports business commentator Darryll Adler set the scene for London 2012, emphasising that the capital will become a “24/7 city” during the Games.

She warned event organisers, in particular National Olympic Committees, will expect after-hours or in some cases around-the-clock service due to the late finishes of some Olympic events.

James Maclay, a Live Experience Producer for international sports management and production company IMG, highlighted the opportunities offered by the sponsorship world which surrounds the Games. James stressed that “uniqueness” would be one of the key differentiators that sponsors would look for as they considered London venues for corporate entertaining.

The final speaker was Patricia Holmes from London Eastside, which represents the full complement of venues in east London’s Tower Hamlets borough. Through working closely with the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), Patricia was able to explain the current Olympic market and advise on business strategy.

Louise Amphlett, Head of Lime Venue Portfolio said: “There are varying opinions within the industry on the best business strategy to adopt in the run-up to London 2012. The three speakers we invited to ‘The Outlook for 2012’ all provided a different perspective on how venues should position themselves to attract incoming Games related business. This was great information not only for London venues but for our representatives from across the country.”
