Earth Hour will commence far before 8.30pm for the employees of Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre (Suntec Singapore) as they dine in dimmed lights at the employee cafeteria to pledge their dedication to the environment.
Joining the global call for action for the fourth consecutive year, Suntec Singapore takes Earth Hour a step further in the journey towards a sustainable future. Besides switching off internal and external lighting features of the venue, the employee cafeteria will also dim the lights at Sunspot (the employee cafeteria) during lunch and dinner hour on the 25th March.
This pre-Earth Hour event serves as a reminder to every individual of their importance in fighting climate change and moves in sync with the direction Pieter Idenburg, CEO of Suntec Singapore, has set down for the company.
As one of the leading venues in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) industry in Asia, he believes that Suntec Singapore “must set the pace for these global efforts within the hospitality and MICE industry so that we can all work towards a committed call to finding solutions for climate change.”
Besides taking an active stand on environmental issues, Suntec Singapore also supports various efforts in the community, education and the arts, such as providing scholarships for students in hospitality programmes, engaging disadvantaged children and green initiatives that spans from recycling to energy conservation.
On the 26th March, Suntec Singapore will join fellow iconic landmarks around the world in reaffirming their pledge to the environment.
The venue will turn off the following features in observing Earth Hour:
