Propeller Mobile’s iPhone conference app developed for Congrex, a leading international events company, proved a success at the EAACI annual congress in London earlier last week.
Congrex offered this cutting-edge free service to EAACI delegates and it was downloaded over 400 times by attendees with iPhones and iPads.
European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), in London 5-9 June, was the first Congrex client event to experience this new addition to its portfolio.
It was used a total of 3646 times and the app proved an invaluable tool in guiding delegates through the event. The app is still available to download on Apple’s app store for the event.
Dr Layth Bunni, CEO Congrex, said: “It was great to work with Propeller Mobile. They helped us innovate and provide our first conference application to our clients, who were very impressed. Although we gave them a very tight deadline they stepped up to the challenge and delivered a great product for us. I look forward to working with them in the future.”
Effectively a “pop-up instant social network” for events delegates, the app acts as a networking and navigating tool, helping delegates make the most of the event.
Once downloaded, delegates can use an interactive map, view event details and times, receive reminders of key events and interact with speakers and other delegates by sending instant messages.
Users can also create their own digital profiles on the app, promoting themselves to other delegates and vendors. Other useful benefits include hotel and travel information – offering delegates a seamless conference experience.
The conference app also provides organisers like Congrex with valuable delegate feedback to help shape future events. A version allowing vendors and sponsors to sell products or deliver demos via the app is planned.
Propeller Mobile was keenly aware of the issues facing the events industry such as the need to extract more ROI from face to face meetings. Also the increasing pressure on the events industry to be as carbon neutral as possible, while at the same time providing new revenue streams.
Propeller Mobile set about exploiting the current smartphone and tablet pc technologies to address these issues.
Ryan Malone, Operations Director, Propeller Mobile said: “Mobile apps are the future for conferences of this scale – the benefits they can offer delegates, vendors and organisers are significant. Plus, with statistical usage data and user-generated content, Congrex can see exactly what’s popular at the conference and what’s not, so it is extremely valuable when shaping future events.”
