Krisam Group (Krisam), a hotel and resort membership company for independent and unique hotels and resorts worldwide, announced that it generated more than $76.5 million in group bookings revenue for its Member hotels and resorts in 2010, representing a 47 % increase over the previous year.
“After two difficult years for the meetings industry, it’s wonderful to report really good news for a change,” said Jim Schultenover, president of Krisam.
“An increase of nearly 50% indicates a solid revival in meetings and incentives and speaks to the quality and strength of the Krisam portfolio and professional staff.”
Among the trends that Krisam has observed during the past year are:
- Resort bookings have improved greatly especially in the Incentive market.
- Short-term business continues strong. Twenty-nine percent was booked and operated within 6 months and 63% was booked and operated within 12 months or less. Krisam, with its strong hotel relationships, is particularly adept at meeting clients’ short-term needs.
- 2011 has begun with 47% more business on the books.
- Demand is up. Krisam’s 2010 lead volume grew 23% compared to 2009.
- CEOs have caught up with meeting planners in understanding the true value of face-to-face meetings.
Industry experts also report, Schultenover said, that the coming years are likely to be seller’s markets for hotels as new construction is down and demand is up.
“This makes Krisam’s services and connections all the more valuable to meeting planners seeking quality sites for their programs,” he continued.
