arinex Staff Put The ‘Fun’ In Fundraising

arinexOn the 6th July 2010, arinex Managing Director Roslyn McLeod OAM was inducted as the President of the Sydney Rotary Club for 2010-11 in the year of Building Communities, Bridging Continents.

Each year the Team at arinex choose a charity and for 2010/11 year it was the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI), one of Roslyn’s President’s projects.

CMRI, founded in 1958, is an independent organisation that conducts research on the genes involved in human health and development, and the fundamental causes of childhood diseases.

Its scientists investigate conditions such as birth defects, cancer and epilepsy and the project focused on Professor Roger Reddel’s cancer research and Professor Ian Alexander’s gene therapy research.

Vision Beyond Aus, the International Project to Bridge Continents, supports a Sydney medical team who provide free eye surgery and medical consultations to the under-privileged in northern India.  Roslyn and another staff member will participate in a Rotary group trip to see the project in action in December 11.

The arinex team managed internal FUNdraising events and volunteered their time and expertise to manage projects. Some of the FUNdraising events throughout the year were:

  • Donation to dress in casual gear on the day last Friday of the month
  • Jeans for Genes day office collection
  • Staff auction where staff could bid on items such as – casual Friday for a month, work exchange to an interstate office for a few days including airfare and accommodation and one of the biggest sellers was to be Roslyn for a day. This lucky staff member had the opportunity to work in the Managing Director’s office, have phone calls managed through a personal assistant and tea and coffee provided by Roslyn’s PA!.
  • Guessing competitions each month such as how many lollies in the giant lolly jars
  • Buy a treat box at reception for that 3pm sweet tooth fix
  • Entertainment book sales

Overall, arinex staff raised $3,500 for CMRI complimented by a matching grant from the company to donate $7,000 in total to CMRI presented to Roslyn McLeod on the 28th of June 2011.

In addition arinex staff supported the Rotary Club of Sydney by volunteering at the ANZAC Day BBQs, attending Rotary Club of Sydney luncheons and managed the major Rotary fundraising event of the year, the Club’s 90th Anniversary Archibald Prize Gala Dinner held at the NSW Art Gallery on the 7th May 2011.
