After being in business for just over a year, the African Bureau of Conventions stated that their successes have been overwhelming, and have far exceeded their expectations.
There is no doubt that the services that the Bureau provide to both their national and international clients, as well as their most valued members, has lead to the culmination of the Bureau having placed 56 international bids, ranging from 500 to 17 000 delegates, until the year 2021.
Over the past year, the Directors of the African Bureau of Conventions, Janine Meyer and Sharon Peetz have had to review the services offered by the Bureau to clients, as the diversity of the requests being received, included the development of destinations, convention venues, business tourism products, assisting with Tenders and lobbying, and communications.
Sharon Peetz, “There was no better way to celebrate our year of success, with the announcement that South Africa has been shortlisted for three international conventions, totalling 14 000 delegates, and have also secured two large incentive groups."
"In addition, it is anticipated that a formal announcement will be made soon of a new African destination that will be joining the Bureau”
Hence, the organisation has increased their portfolio of services that now can be offered, as well as increased their staff compliment.
The Bureau has maintained their high profile at international trade shows such as EIBTM and IMEX, as well as attending both the international ICCA Conference and the ICCA Africa Workshop.
Janine Meyer once again confirmed the benefit of being an ICCA member, and said that our membership to ICCA is a key beneficial factor for Bureau members, as all leads sourced through ICCA are forwarded to our relevant members.
Philip Beardwood, International Sales Manager of Gearhouse said, “Gearhouse South Africa have been proud members of the African Bureau of Conventions since inception. We have won several events as a result of the African Bureau of Conventions (ABC) and we consider it a great investment and will continue to do so."
"Congratulations to you on your 1st birthday, and here’s looking forward to many more.”
