Ulrike von Arnold Joins ICCA Board Of Directors

ulrike-von-arnoldUlrike von Arnold, CMP, Deputy Director of the Vienna Tourist Board’s Vienna Convention Bureau, has just been appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

This is not only a great tribute to her personally, but also to the Vienna Convention Bureau and the congress destination Vienna.

The ICCA is the world’s largest association of suppliers to the congress business. With some 950 members in over 80 countries, the association’s members are congress cities, centers, hotels, travel agents, professional congress organizers (PCOs) and airlines.

At this year’s annual congress in Leipzig from October 22 thru 26, the association appointed Ulrike von Arnold, CMP, Deputy Director of the Vienna Tourist Board’s Vienna Convention Bureau, to its Board of Directors.

Ulrike von Arnold will represent the Sector Destination Marketing, which comprises the City Convention Bureaus as well as regional and national Convention Bureaus.

Ulrike von Arnold has been with the Vienna Convention Bureau since 1997 as Marketing Manager for Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the Scandinavian countries, and been Director Christian Mutschlechner’s deputy since 2004.

Commenting on her appointment to ICCA’s Board of Directors, Ulrike von Arnold said: “Election to this board is an honor mainly attributable to the Vienna Convention Bureau and the congress destination Vienna. The fact that I have made a personal contribution is a highlight of my career of which I am very proud, and I look forward to meeting the expectations which people have of me.”

As a member of the ICCA Board of Directors, Ulrike von Arnold, CMP, will be continuing a tradition established by Christian Mutschlechner, Director of the VCB, in 1997. His involvement with the ICCA saw him first as a member of the Board of Directors, followed by three terms as 1st Vice-President, and finally as President (2002–2006). In both offices he served for the maximum terms permissible under ICCA Statutes.
