With over 20 years experience working for luxury hotels in the UK and Germany, hospitality expert Stefan Mueller says goodbye to London and a warm welcome back to his native country, Germany.
After spending the last 11 years of his career working for global luxury brand, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Mueller has been appointed as the new sales director for the 5 star, Excelsior Hotel Ernst in Cologne.
Beginning his extensive career as a hotelier apprentice a combination of both educational and vocational training, sparked a passion in Mueller for the hotel industry.
After his apprenticeship Mueller went to the 5 star Grand Hotel Rocco Forte in Nürnberg and also to Hotel Königshof in Munich to further enhancing his culinary knowledge and superior customer service skills.
In 1999, Mueller joined the Mandarin Oriental in Munich and after just a few months Mueller was being awarded to the Restaurant Assistant Manager. After gaining 18 months managerial experience, Mueller embarked on a career change and achieved his first position as Sales Manager at Mandarin Oriental.
He joined Mandarin Oriental London in 2007 as Corporate Senior Sales Manager. It was at this luxury London hotel that Mueller achieved fast career steps.
Mueller’s final position at Mandarin Oriental was Assistant Director of Sales in which he became responsible for the business development for Germany, Spain, Italy, France and Japan. Furthermore Mueller was Account Manager for the corporate business and focused especially on loyalty programs and preferred distribution partners.
Effective from March 2011 Mueller has been appointed Director of Sales at the luxury 5 star, Excelsior Hotel Ernst. Back to his roots Stefan Mueller is looking forward to assist the development of the renowned traditional house.
