Hotel industry professional, Myrtle Dwyer, J.P., is the Director with responsibility for the Sales & Marketing at Glamour Destination Management – a market leading destination management company (DMC) headquartered in Montego Bay.
Ms. Dwyer, a 36-year veteran in Jamaica’s hospitality and tourism industry, recently closed a decade of stewardship as Director of Sales & Marketing for the prestigious Half Moon Resort, where she served in various senior positions for a total of 34 years.
Chairman and Director of Glamour DMC, Roy Anderson has hailed Ms. Dwyer as “the consummate tourism expert who will bring considerable knowledge and expertise to bear at Glamour, which boasts a Caribbean and international client base for whom we provide a range of services including group event planning, luxury ground handling and transportation services.”
Noting that Glamour is also the only DMC in Jamaica with a dedicated wedding department and June Wedding Inc. – certified wedding planners, Mr. Anderson said that “Ms. Dwyer’s has an enviable track record in developing business segments including destination weddings, groups and incentives and our clients will be the beneficiaries of her tremendous experience.”
Founded as Glamour Tours in 1987 by Mr. Anderson and Ms. Dwyer, a co-director, the company transitioned into Glamour Destination Management Company in 2008, with the expansion of services and appointment of their daughter, Rachel Anderson, a graduate of economics from Davidson College, U.S.A., as Director with responsibility for Business Expansion & Development.
With a Masters of Science in Hospitality & Tourism Management with distinction from Revans University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management and Tourism from The Carl Duisberg College in Germany; practical experience working in the hotel industry and serving on Marketing Committees of Boards such as the Jamaica Tourist Board, Jamaica Vacations Limited and the Caribbean Hotel Association, Ms. Dwyer is gearing up to launch a 2011-2012 marketing programme which complements the company’s relationship management strategies and use of modern technology including social marketing tools.
Fluent in English, German and Spanish, Ms. Dwyer, the Honorary Consul for Spain in Montego Bay was conferred with the Commander of Order of Civil Merit Award for her pioneering work in this regard by King of Span Juan Carlos I. She is also a Justice of the Peace, Lay Magistrate of the Parish of St. James, a Deaconess and Lay Preacher at the Calvary Baptist Church and Chairman of the Board of the Montego Bay High School, her alma mater.
