An etouches executive has been named to spearhead educational efforts for Meeting Professionals International’s Greater New York Chapter as the group’s Vice President of Education, effective July 1.
Jim Alkon, Vice President, Corporate Travel & Meetings Practice, for etouches, the web-based event management software company, will serve on the GNY Board of Directors’ Executive Committee – a rare distinction and accomplishment for someone who has never served in a previous capacity on the Chapter Board.
He will be responsible for overseeing all programming and education activities of the Chapter, as well as the group’s signature annual tradeshow event, NYMix, for 2012.
Alkon’s background as Publisher and Editor of such titles as Meeting News, Agenda, Expo, Business Travel News and Travel Agent will help the Board in its efforts to provide quality content to members through live events, webcasts, and networking activities.
The MPI Chapter, with close to 900 members, already uses etouches software for online registration, marketing, surveys, project management, attendee connections and other elements of event planning. etouches recently completed the build-out for the NY Mix 2011 registration site.
"We are excited about this new partnership and being able to take advantage of all of the etouches functionality. We anticipate that it will make our jobs easier in terms of project management and it will certainly enhance the registration experience for our members and event attendees,"said Kathie Stapleton, Executive Director of the MPIGNY Chapter.
“Jim’s appointment to the MPIGNY Board is further example of etouches’ commitment to take a relevant participatory stake in MPI with the hope of adding valuable insight gained through experience,” said etouches Founder and CEO Leonora Valvo.
