The Sandton Convention Centre (SCC), Southern Africa’s premier conference and event venue, proudl announced that James Khoza has joined its dynamic Food and Beverage team as Executive Sous Chef.
Since the SCC opened, it has quickly become the venue of choice for discerning corporate clients, PCOs and event organisers.
This twelve-storey structure prides itself on its state-of-the-art facilities, centralised safe location, technologically advanced systems, highly trained professional staff and unparalleled value for money.
The addition of esteemed chef James to its staff contingent will further entrench SCC as a leader in the international and local conference arena.
James will maintain his title as Executive Sous Chef but moves from the Sandton Sun to the SCC, which will bring a fresh perspective to their existing top-class culinary offering.
Drawing on his diverse experience, James will add an exciting new dimension to the typical conferencing experience.
James has been involved in the hospitality industry for 19 years and has grown his knowledge and expertise under the guidance and mentorship of Executive Chef Garth Shnier, whose responsibilities also now include the Sandton Sun, InterContinental Johannesburg Sandton Towers and SCC’s kitchen.
Staff training is a personal passion of James’ and his new position will involve the sharing of skills he has acquired with staff at the SCC.

The SCC has an impressive track record of hosting major events including in 2010, the 60th FIFA Congress, the International Paediatric Association, the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions, and more recently the 2011 Nurses Summit for 2000 delegates.
In August this year, the SCC will play host to the prestigious “World Chef’s Tour Against Hunger”. James, a member of the South African Chef’s Association (SACA) and President’s Award winner, will also be heading up this gala dinner where 46 countries will be present and the menu is set to delight.
