Kendall College School of Hospitality Management Professor Glen C. Ramsborg, Ph.D., CMP, was recognized for his distinguished efforts in the meeting and event industry at the PCMA Education Foundation Dinner Honoring Professional Achievement on Wednesday, April 27.
Dozens of industry leaders attended the black-tie dinner reception, which was held at the Washington Hilton in Washington D.C.
Ramsborg, who was recognized as the 2011 Educator Honoree at the PCMA event, is a veteran education professional with a 25-year career in meeting and event management.
“The PCMA’s mission is to deliver superior and innovative education and promote the value of professional convention management, which are all qualities we see in the notable career of Dr. Glen Ramsborg,” said Deborah Sexton, President and CEO of PCMA.
“On behalf of the PCMA Board and our members, we are grateful to Glen for his time and efforts to further enhance the professionalism of our industry and proudly bestow on him the title of 2011 Educator Honoree.”
“Dr. Ramsborg’s extensive experience and background in the meetings industry – combined with his focus on adult education – make him an ideal candidate for Educator Honoree. The faculty and students at Kendall College applaud Dr. Ramsborg for this tremendous achievement,” said Jeffrey Catrett, Dean of Kendall College’s School of Hospitality Management.
Earlier this year, Ramsborg began a two-year term (2011-2012) as Academic Liaison on the CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) Board of Directors, an appointed position where he represents the academic community in decisions made by the CMP Board.
In March, he completed a three-year term as a member of the APEX (Accepted Practices Exchange) Standards Review Council, which helped redefine the newly released APEX Industry Glossary, one of the most comprehensive guides to terminology in the meeting planning industry around the world.
Prior to joining Kendall College in 2009, Ramsborg worked as Senior Director, Education, for the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).
In this role, Ramsborg served as the Executive Editor of the fifth edition of PCMA’s Professional Meeting Management, recognized as the industry’s premier textbook, and developed the first and most comprehensive online program for industry professionals preparing for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation.
The program has earned the remarkable distinction of having a 98-percent pass rate among those who took the course and sat for the examination in 2008. PCMA named him “Educator of the Year” in 2003.
