The ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) Iberian Chapter Annual Meeting, held from the 8 to 10 March at the Estoril Congress Centre, chose Frank García, Association Market Sales Manager of the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB), as the new Chairman of this Chapter.
In this position Frank García succeeds María de Graça Luis Oliveira (Madeira Convention Bureau), who led the ICCA Iberian Chapter’s Board of Directors from 2009-2011, with a team in which Carolina García Serra, the CCIB’s Sales and Marketing Director, assumed the vice-chair.
During his more than 15 years experience in the Meeting & Events sector, Frank García has specialised in business development in the national and international association market.
Prior to his current position in the CCIB, he was connected to two well-known PCOs (Professional Conference Organisers), a dual role which will undoubtedly prove beneficial to his new tasks in the ICCA.
On his appointment Frank García commented, “I want to thank the confidence shown in my candidacy. It is a true honour to have the opportunity of contributing to the work carried out by the sector’s distinguished association over the next two years. Our commitments will focus on creating new tools for members and establishing synergies with key players in the industry."

The members that make up the Iberian Chapter's new Board are as follows: Pedro Rocha, from CCE-Estoril (Portuguese vice-chairman); Paula Catita, from CCB Lisbon (member); Carlos de Sebastián, from Tilesa Kenes Madrid (member) and Carolina García, coordinator of the Gijón Tourism Convention Bureau (technical secretary).
Frank García added, “we consider it our duty to offer our experience, knowledge and effort to all members of the Iberian Chapter in order to create better professionals, more sustainable events and more efficient tools for its members”.
The ICCA Iberian Chapter currently comprises around 70 members which represent the sector’s most important companies and institutions in Spain and Portugal.
