Dr. Holly Wyneski Named To IMMPA Advisory Board

Holly-WyneskiDr. Holly Wyneski was recently appointed to the Advisory Board of the International Medical Meeting Professionals Association (IMMPA).

Dr. Wyneski is a urologist at Southwest Urology, a practice consisting of eight urologists based in Middleburg Heights, Ohio with additional offices and surgery centers throughout Northeast Ohio.

She is board-eligible and has passed Part 1 for the American Board of Urology certification and is a member of many medical societies including the American Urological Association and the Ohio Urological Society.

Dr. Wyneski has authored numerous publications and remains active in research and education. A native of Seville, Ohio, Dr. Wyneski earned her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) as well as completing her residency at NEOUCOM in 2008.

IMMPA was launched in the fall of 2009 with the creation of a board of directors, an advisory board, and a certification board. Its members are medical meeting professionals who work in pharmaceutical, biomedical, and medical device companies; hospitals and medical centers; animal health, allied health, and medical societies; and independent planning companies.

“IMMPA’s alliances and our credibility are crucial elements of our reputation and Dr. Wyneski represents quality of validation to our organization,” said Pat Schaumann, IMMPA President.  “We are proud to have her join our team.”

IMMPA is creating a certification program for medical meeting professionals. The certification program will include classroom instruction and an extensive testing program designed to keep medical meeting professionals current with the profession. The organization is working with a university to administer the certification program.

IMMPA will host its annual conference “Engage, Enlighten, and Educate” June 7-8 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers with featured speaker Deborah Sexton, President and CEO of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).

The 2011 IMMPA Annual Conference is the place for medical and healthcare planners and suppliers, providing valuable information, training, motivation, and industry updates. The conference will feature exhibits and serve as a gathering place for conference attendees in between sessions as well as an opportunity to view the latest medical-related products and services from a variety of vendors.

Urology is the medical and surgical specialty that deals with problems of the male and female urinary tract (kidneys, ureter, bladder, and urethra) and the male reproductive system. These problems include urologic cancers (including prostate cancer), impotence, urinary tract infection, kidney stones, infertility and urinary incontinence.

Dr. Wyneski has a passion for helping women with urological disorders including incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary tract infections, and pelvic floor dysfunction. This passion to help women has led her to develop and create Southwest Urology Women's Connection, a comprehensive clinic for female patients with urologic disorders.

“The goal of Women’s Connection is to allow women to take control of their health and lifestyle issues,” said Dr. Wyneski. “We want to make this a big part of the women’s health movement by getting out and hosting conferences, networking about healthcare concerns, and providing a means for women to feel empowered to take control of health issues.”

Women’s Connection provides information and programming to women through a monthly speaker series, a weekly exercise class, and the utilization of a personal trainer to assist women with achieving a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Wyneski sees the value in hosting future conferences for women’s health in the Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center (Cleveland MMCC), scheduled to open in Fall, 2013.

“Cleveland MMCC will allow us to reach a far broader audience, to expand our horizons, and to reach out to more women about healthcare issues,” said Dr. Wyneski. “Hosting the Ohio Urological Conference in Cleveland will be a huge benefit to women and the healthcare industry in this area.”

As a urologist, Dr. Wyneski also notes the Cleveland area’s strength in healthcare research and innovation in the field of urology, including breakthrough concepts such as less invasive laparoscopic surgery, including robotic-assisted surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System and laser vaporization of the prostate.

“Cleveland is a mecca of urology and urological studies and is the birthplace of many new urological medical breakthroughs,” said Dr. Wyneski, who also has advanced training in urogynecology and offers expanded services for treatment of urinary incontinence and pelvic floor disorders.

Dr. Wyneski also sees the overall benefit of Cleveland MMCC, including reaching out to healthcare users and patients.

“CMMCC will also provide consumers and patients with displays of different products, accessibility to meet with and learn from experts in a variety of fields, and allow for multiple information stations and meeting and breakout rooms,” said Dr. Wyneski. “It is a perfectly-designed facility for what we want to do and will help our organization reach more people that need information and assistance.”

Cleveland MMCC will integrate state-of-the-art permanent showrooms with world-class trade show and conference facilities in a single structure designed specifically for the healthcare industry. Construction began on January 3, 2011 with a completion date set for Fall, 2013.

Cleveland MMCC features a 235,000 square foot medical mart at the corner of St. Clair Avenue and Ontario Street in downtown Cleveland and an adjoining convention center with 230,000 square feet of Class-A exhibit space. The facility also includes more than 90,000 square feet dedicated to meeting rooms and a Grand Ballroom overlooking Lake Erie.
