Carol O’Reilly Named Chair Of MIA Destinations

Carol-OReillyLiverpool Convention Bureau manager Carol O’Reilly is to take over as chair of the Meetings Industry Association (MIA) Destinations Group.

Currently vice-chair, Carol will be taking up her new position as a result of the departure of current chair Catherine Walker, who leaves Marketing Manchester on the 14th October to a new role at MIDAS, Manchester’s inward investment organisation.

Members of the MIA Destinations Group will vote on a new vice-chair in the coming weeks.

Jane Evans, Chief Executive, Meetings Industry Association (MIA) comments; “We wish Catherine the best of luck for her new role and are confident that Carol will continue and expand upon her initiatives for MIA Destinations."

"Under Catherine’s leadership, the group has gone from strength to strength and is continually increasing in influence and it’s fantastic to have another strong industry figure taking up the baton for the benefit of members and the industry.”

Carol adds; “I personally will be sad to see Catherine go as she has been such an instrumental industry figure but I wish her every success. In a short space of time, the group has provided members with a much needed platform and voice to collectively promote our industry and respective destinations and I’m looking forward to growing this for the future."

"It’s an exciting time for the industry with the wealth of global sporting events coming to the UK and my objective is to ensure that The MIA Destinations Group works to capitalise on these events and builds upon their success to attract other high profile conferences to the UK.”
