The international delegation includes attendees from Brazil, Chile, Egypt, Korea, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, South Africa, United Kingdom and the United States, among many other countries.
With nine hotels and resorts serving as official accommodations for the convention, the group represents 3,156 room nights and is estimated to infuse nearly $2.8 million dollars into Puerto Rico’s local economy.
Official IFLA host properties include the Caribe Hilton, Courtyard by Marriott San Juan Miramar, InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casino, Quality Inn El Portal, Radisson Ambassador Plaza Hotel & Casino San Juan, Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino, Sheraton Old San Juan & Casino, and Comfort Inn San Juan.

During the city-wide convention, IFLA delegates will attend plenary sessions, satellite meetings and exhibitions held at the Puerto Rico Convention Center Pedro Rosselló, as well as enjoy tours of the Island and evening events which highlight Puerto Rico culture.
A significant element of the congress is a series of library, museum and archive visits to Puerto Rico institutions of all sizes. Providing an opportunity for Puerto Rico to showcase libraries which delve deep into the Island’s history and culture, the program provides local research professionals and librarians with the opportunity to experience librarianship and international relations in a unique way.
Just a few of the dozens of institutions included in the Library, Museum & Archive Visiting Programme are the Fort San Cristobal Archives and Museum; Pablo Casals Museum; National Gallery at the Institute of Puerto Rico Culture; Museum of Art of Puerto Rico; Museum of Pharmacy and Medical Plants; Museum of History, Anthropology and Art, University of Puerto Rico; and the Luis Muñoz Marín Foundation Historical Archives.
The IFLA is the leading international body representing the interests of library and information services and their uses and is the global voice of the library and information profession and sets the international agenda for the profession and offers opportunities for networking and professional development to all delegates.
