The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) will hold its annual convention at the expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center this week.
This year’s theme is Kidney Week 2011.
This is the fifth time ASN has met in Philadelphia. Over the course of those five years (1998, 2002, 2005, 2008 and 2011) the convention has welcomed 57,000 attendees, generating more than 145,000 total hotel room nights and an economic impact of more than $179 million for the Philadelphia region.
The convention returns to Philadelphia in 2014.
Nephrology deals with the study of the function and diseases of the kidney. According to ASN, kidney disease affects one-in-nine Americans.
This year, ASN will have an app available for attendees that feature interactive maps, complete program, a personalized scheduler, social media integration, and more.
The app is available for iOS, Android, and BlackBerry devices. In addition, the mobile website can be downloaded by visiting http://m.core-apps.com/asnkw2011.
Medical students and residents can attend the meeting for FREE with appropriate Training Program Director information.
