In an operating theatre close coordination is required among all those involved to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
Areas with interdisciplinary activity, functioning communications and patient safety are the main topics of the 127th Congress of the German Society for Surgery (DGCH).
This will take place in the International Congress Center Berlin (ICC Berlin) from 20 to 23 April 2010. Around 6,000 specialists from every discipline in this field are expected to attend.
They include experts in general surgery, visceral surgery, vascular surgery, paediatric surgery, orthopaedics and orthopaedic surgery, traumatology, neurosurgery, plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, thoracic surgery, as well as thoracic and cardiovascular surgery.
The slogan of this year’s congress is “Knowing, thinking and acting“. The congress will devote itself mainly to perioperative medicine, which includes areas such as interdisciplinary intensive medical care, pain management, quality management, nutritional medicine and emergency medical care.
This is the first time that the surgeons’ meeting is taking place parallel with the IT healthcare congress of conhIT. Other congress topics include patient safety opportunities offered by IT and telemedicine.
This combination with conhIT – Connecting Healthcare IT is new. The industrial fair and accompanying congress will take place on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 20 to 22 April, and provide experts in surgery and IT with new opportunities to share their knowledge, for example in telemedicine.
