This year's Wikimania conference took place in Gdansk.
One of the oldest Polish cities won the competition to organize this event by beating Oxford and Amsterdam. Wikimania 2010 was held on 9-11 July 2010 at the Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdansk.
Conferences were held every day starting in the morning until late at night in 4 Philharmonic rooms: Concert, Green, Oak, and Jazz.
Volunteers (Gdańsk Shareholders, original name: Gdańscy Akcjonariusze) helped with registering and providing necessary information.
Gdańsk Shareholders were supported by the Gdańsk Convention Bureau and the Regional Volunteer Centre in Gdansk, from NGO Fund. Gdansk shareholders could also participate in conferences. Participation enabled them to develop their interests and raise language skills.
Wikimania is an annual conference for editors, members and people interested in Wiki projects run by Wikimedia Foundation. Originally, the conference was addressed only to users, administrators, developers and those directly related to Wikipedia and its sister projects.
Later the conference has become oriented to the movement of free culture and free software. While meetings they began to discuss issues related to freedom, cooperation, as well as the possibility to exchange experiences related to running a wiki page in science and business.
During this year's Wikimania special concert was held dedicated to the memory of Wladyslaw Szpilman. There was also premiere of "Truth in Numbers."
