VisitBrighton has won the prestigious International Conference of Medical Physics (ICMP).
Taking place at the Brighton Centre, the event is predicted to bring over £1.2 million economic benefit to Brighton as over 800 delegates visit the city between 1-4 September 2013.
Previously held in Dubai, Germany and Brazil the congress is hosted and organised by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) together with the International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP) and the European Federation of Organisations for Medical Physics (EFOMP).
The event is used to present the latest research, developments and scientific discussions in the various fields of medical physics. It will feature a range of educational and professional workshops, conference programmes and exhibitions.
Candida Colbourn, conference organiser, IPEM said: “We’re delighted to be using Brighton for 2013’s event. Having attended VisitBrighton’s inaugural Brighton Unconventional familiarisation trip last autumn, it was clear that the city offered us an ideal location and highly appropriate facilities to suit our specific needs."
"We were impressed by the Brighton Centre and by the VisitBrighton team’s passion and professionalism.”
Darren Johnson, VisitBrighton Convention Bureau sales manager comments: “This is a fantastic and significant win for Brighton and Hove. We’re increasingly competing on the world stage and this is a true testament to the world class facilities Brighton offers event organisers."
"Delegates have an excellent time both in and out of their conference when here and we try to let event planners also experience this when they attend our organised familiarisation visits. We’re hosting our second Brighton Unconventional in October and look forward to giving other organisers the opportunity to discover what the city offers to businesses without the hard sell.”
