BBC Says Copenhagen Was An Easy Choice

forum-copenhagenThe popular BBC TV programme, Top Gear, is looking for host cities for its large-scale live stage show, Top Gear Live.

The announcement that Top Gear and the Danish venue Forum would be working together to host Top Gear Live in Copenhagen, caused quite a stir in the Danish media.

Prior to the announcement, Top Gear had looked at various cities as potential hosts but they were keen on Copenhagen.

Despite the absence of a multi-purpose arena which will open in Copenhagen in 2015.

Other capital cities in Europe remain within Top Gear Live's scope as potential hosts, but none have yet been announced. Top Gear's Event Director, Martin Clarke, is happy to confirm that Copenhagen was chosen quickly:

”Copenhagen was an easy choice. We chose Copenhagen because of the fantastic response we have had every time we have visited you on our research tours," says Martin Clarke to Wonderful Copenhagen, adding:

"As well as which, the people in Copenhagen are friendly, it's a beautiful city, and there is a 'great vibe' there."

Top Gear's interest in Copenhagen led the TV show to Wonderful Copenhagen and VisitDenmark, who mediated the subsequent contacts with the relevant venues among the members of the Meetingplace, the meetings industry network in Copenhagen.

”Top Gear was an interesting and unusual request, but we dealt with it in just the same thorough way, as we do with the over 400 requests we and VisitDenmark receive every year from international meetings and event planners," explains Anne Nikolaides, project manager at Wonderful Copenhagen.

Top Gear had specific requirements of whichever venue which was to host the event.

"The absence of a multi-arena made it difficult to find the right venue in Copenhagen for Top Gear Live, but that was compensated for by the enthusiasm and cooperation - among other things - we experienced at Forum, which will be a unique and intimate setting for our show," Martin Clarke told Wonderful Copenhagen.
