The Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference (AOG) has won one of the exhibition industry’s top honours for the second year running, taking home the award for Best Trade Show Over 10,000m2 at this year’s Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) Awards for Excellence.
AOG beat out some of Australasia’s leading trade shows to claim the honour at the gala event at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, which recognised outstanding achievement and innovation in the exhibition and events industry.
The announcement marked back to back wins for Australia’s largest oil and gas exhibition, which collected the same award along with the title of Best Australian Show at the EEAA Awards in 2009.
Exhibition Director, Bill Hare said the award capped off another record breaking year that saw AOG eclipse its results from 2009, drawing an unprecedented number of exhibitors and achieving a 26 percent increase in visitor numbers.
“To be again recognised as the best trade show of our size is an amazing honour and a testimony to the enormous ongoing efforts of our team to deliver the largest oil and gas exhibition ever held in the Southern Hemisphere,” he said.
Mr Hare also acknowledged the assistance of the Government of Western Australia, City of Perth, Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) and Subsea Energy Australia in making AOG 2010 a record-breaking success.
One of 14 awards presented on the night, the Best Trade Show category was judged on a number of criteria, including visitor and exhibitor research, promotional campaign, innovation and results to budget.
Mr Hare said his team were now gearing up for an even bigger event in 2011 with more than 400 companies, including many of the world’s oil and gas giants, already confirmed as exhibitors.
AOG 2011 will take place at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 23-25 February.
