London 2012 – Good For Your Business?

BSI-11BSI has launched ‘London 2012 – Good for your business?’, the latest edition of the specialist’s IndustryEye reports, at an educational forum at London’s Millennium Gloucester Hotel & Conference Centre.

Produced in partnership with the Travel Intelligence Network (TIN) the report examines the potential impact of the Games on supply and demand in the accommodation and meetings markets.

As a valuable starting point from which to approach 2012 strategy, it examines possible pricing models, security and duty of care issues, and the impact of major UK events & previous Olympic Games on rates and availability.

To mark the publication of the paper, BSI hosted a breakfast forum attended by over 30 leading corporate travel and meetings buyers. The forum featured a panel of industry experts comprising of David Rushton from Accor UK & Ireland, Tracy Halliwell of Visit London, Heiko Figge of Guoman & Thistle Hotels and Sportsworld’s Len Olender.

The event is the second in a series of planned educational forums, demonstrating BSI’s commitment to supporting customers with resources offering guidance, knowledge and the ability to make informed purchasing decisions.

Speaking after the breakfast forum, BSI’s Managing Director, Trevor Elswood, said:  “The high level of debate between delegates and our panel demonstrates the degree of importance placed on the impact of London 2012 on corporate accommodation & meetings and the key message to come from the forum is to plan now."

"No-one has missed the boat but if they haven’t already done so, organisations need to engage stakeholders within their businesses to enable planning for business critical requirements."

"BSI recently secured close to 11,000 rooms for customers during the games period and rooms are available at the right price for those know what they need. Speaking to your agency and suppliers is crucial as the next 4 – 8 weeks is the ideal window of opportunity."

"Keep in mind the exceptional opportunities that London 2012 offers.  Your business has a once in a lifetime chance of embracing London to host staff and customer communications, training and corporate hospitality events on the back of the Olympic theme”.
