ISES And Crewsaders To Research Olympic Impact

ises-ukThe International Special Events Society (ISES) has commissioned a piece of research that will explore the impact of Summer 2012 on the supply chains of UK event organisations.

Sponsored by Crewsaders, a leading UK crewing company, the research is based on a robust methodology that will utilise a comprehensive survey as well as in-depth interviews to both ISES UK members and the wider industry.

The research will take into account soft and hard measures that are being considered or already implemented by the industry. Soft measures include recruiting temporary skilled staff, setting up new event management and staffing companies.

Hard measures include major investment considerations in venues, AV, sound and lighting and other event associated equipment.

The findings will also consider how the supply chains will adapt to decreasing supply-side capacity in a sustainable way.

James Morgan, Marketing Director at Crewsaders, comments “Next year is set to be a incredible year for the events industry, with major events like the Games and the Queen’s Jubilee driving high demand from suppliers, which in turn will create challenges for our industry."

"The aim of this research, together with ISES, is to help inform the industry how to face the challenges resulting from bottlenecks in the supply chain and the key actions that can be taken to address this issue”.

Jonathan Byrne, COO at Royal Aeronautical Society and President of ISES adds, “It was clear from speaking with our members and the wider industry that there are concerns about supply and demand for Summer 2012."

"We see it as our role, as a leading events industry association, to share best practice amongst our membership to ensure that we all have the information we need to make informed decisions that will ensure our future success.”

The survey will be issued on the week commencing 12th December 2011 with interviews taking place in the weeks following. The results of the research are to be published early in the New Year.
