A survey conducted by INCON, the dynamic partnership of the world’s leading conference and event organisers, reveals restrictive budgets and increased demand for cost visibility as the key factors impacting global conference business in 2010.
The survey was conducted in Frankfurt, Germany over the three days of the IMEX 2010 exhibition; one of Europe’s largest exhibitions catering exclusively for the meetings, incentives, conferences and events industry.
Almost 9,000 specialists attended the exhibition either as hosted buyers or exhibitors and INCON welcomed 1,437 of them to the Cyber Cafe at its booth.
Of the industry sectors attending the show, the agency community emerged as the most well represented with attendee numbers at the INCON stand showing a marked increase on 2009.
Corporate buyer numbers revealed a significant year on year decline while the number of Association buyers marginally increased.
61% (870) of visitors to the Cyber Café reported restrictive budgets and increased demand for cost visibility as the number one factor affecting their business in 2010.
Other non economic challenges included marketing initiatives, technological developments, the impact of regulations such as the pharma code and CSR issues.
