From 13 to 16 August, Geneva welcomed 60 meeting and incentive planners from North America to a gathering at which they met tourist providers from Switzerland and five other countries.
This event offered a perfect opportunity for the promotion of Switzerland as a destination for conference and incentive trips.
After suffering the effects of the economic crisis in 2009, business tourism in Switzerland is recovering.
Thus, the gathering of 60 meeting and incentive planners from the United States and Canada represented an excellent opportunity to capitalize on the current recovery of business tourism, and to promote the quality of Switzerland’s visitor facilities.
Entitled “Trailblazers™”, this event is organized jointly by the national tourism organizations of Switzerland, Great Britain, Canada, Germany, Ireland and Monaco, and takes place every year in one of the organizing countries.
This year, it was Geneva’s turn to welcome the representatives of some of the most important players in the incentive and meeting planning industry in North America.
During the event organized by Geneva Tourism & Conventions and Switzerland Convention and Incentive Bureau (SCIB) at the InterContinental hotel, participants held meetings with tourist providers from Switzerland and from the other organizing countries, and also had the opportunity to explore Geneva.
After the gathering, participants set off on a tour of Switzerland on special trains of the Swiss Federal Railways, stopping in Lausanne, Lucerne and Zürich.
“We are especially happy to have been able to host this platform in Switzerland after a year in which the economic situation was particularly unfavorable in the North American market,” said Barbra Albrecht, Director of SCIB.
“In collaboration with our partners in the national tourist offices of five other countries, we offer North America’s most important decision makers an event that allows them to make the very most of their stay in Switzerland.”
