In accordance with the data published by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Valencia hosted 35 international meetings in 2008, ranking the city 45th on the international scale.
Overlooking the capital cities included in this ranking, Valencia lies among the first six European cities in terms of the number of international meetings hosted, ahead of Zurich, Lyon and Florence. On an international level, and again excluding capital cities, Valencia is ranked among the top 10.
In pursuit of this objective, the city has equipped itself with innovative infrastructures.
These include the Congress Centre, which is covered with solar panels designed to provide the installations with clean energy and thus reduce CO2 emissions, and Valencia Trade Fair Centre, which is has the necessary technology and capacity to host events of up to 5000 visitors, and whose Events Centre is already considered a reference within the sector.
As of November, events will be hosted in El Ágora, a centre designed to accommodate social meetings and acts and which will complete the offer provided by the City of Arts and Sciences.
