UK's MIA and MPI join forces to promote best practice accreditation scheme

MIA_UKThe Meetings Industry Association (MIA) and Meetings Professionals International (MPI), have formed a partnership to advance the widespread adoption of the MIA's accreditation scheme, AIM.

The AIM (Accredited in Meetings) scheme offers assurance that a venue or supplier operates within stringent quality, customer service and Best Practice criteria and under the new agreement will be promoted by MPI to its UK members.

Jane Evans, chief executive of the MIA, said: "This agreement between our two associations is a major step forward for the industry, and follows many months of cooperation and discussion between MIA and MPI representatives.

"We've demonstrated the opportunities and advantages AIM presents to MPI members and the industry at large, and have now achieved full support and endorsement from the MPI board."

MPI will be encouraging its venue members to ensure that their venue gains AIM, promoting the scheme via regular communications, the MPI website and at monthly education and networking events.

Anthony Hyde, president of MPI UK and Ireland, said: "We have a great deal of admiration for AIM, it is a comprehensive, well respected accreditation that is helping take the industry forward.

"AIM reinforces the importance of the meetings and events industry and, perhaps most importantly, of raising and maintaining standards within the industry. So this is a welcome agreement, MPI is delighted to endorse AIM and work alongside the MIA in promoting the accreditation and the industry as a whole."
