‚And the Conga-Award goes to...’ – this is how it sounded on the night of 16th June at the Berlin exhibition centre, when this year’s Conga-Award was presented in the context of the STB 2009.
The SevenCenters of Germany were honoured this year for their unique marketing concept. The Conga-Award is by now regarded as the ‚Oscar of the event business’.
The award winning ceremony was initiated by the Vereinigung Deutscher Veranstaltungsorganisatoren e.V. (Association of German event organizers) in cooperation with the Seminar- und Tagungsbörse (STB) and was first staged in 2007.
Within three years only, the Conga-Award has become firmly established as one of the event business’ most important honours. Every year, the best ten of the business are nominated in ten categories – amongst others convention centres, conference hotels, event agencies and artists.
In this year’s ceremony, the SevenCenters were awarded a special prize in recognition of their successful marketing strategy. In May 2002, seven German convention locations joined forces under the name of ‚SevenCenters of Germany’ and since then have been promoting the event location Germany on an international level.
Over the years, the marketing cooperation has positively influenced the increasing perception of Germany and is one of the leading representatives of the German convention business. The special award is a distinction for the seven members’ joint performance.
Dr. Ralf Kleinhenz, director of the ICC Berlin and speaker of SevenCenters, accepted the prize at the Conga-Award gala. ‚SevenCenters will continue to contribute their strength and commitment to the consolidation of the convention location Germany’ said Kleinhenz.
