The Big Lunch came to the Royal Horticultural Halls and Conference Centre (RHH) on April 2 when partner organisations including the Eden Project, Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), National Trust, Garden Organic and Landshare joined together to spread the word about this forthcoming national event.
With an audience of more than 400 people, including celebrity ambassadors, social entrepreneurs, MPs and journalists, Lindley Hall came alive with jugglers, buskers, stilt walkers and a children’s choir.
The entrance was lined with astro turf and the space was dressed with bunting, fairy lights and images of street parties.
A cake in the form of The Big Lunch logo was symbolically cut and shared with all the guests.
The Big Lunch is an Eden Project initiative and the RHS is supporting it by encouraging people across the country to hold a street party in their neighbourhood on 19th July. The idea is that people will grow their own food, and keen gardeners and RHS vegetable doctors will share their skills with the less experienced in their street.
On July 19 all four RHS gardens will be holding special Big Lunch events.
Maugie Lyons at the RHH comments: “This is a really worthy cause and echoes everything we stand for and, through the RHS, we are very proud to lend our support to this project.”
If you’re thinking about joining the Halls’ ranks of existing clients, you’ll be interested to know that the RHH has recently launched its new Daily Delegate Rates which start from just £39, giving an excellent opportunity to find out what the Halls can do for you. What’s more, the venue supports the Royal Horticultural Society and all profits are used to further the charity’s goals.
