Manchester Central scores another winner

Manchester_CentralManchester Central has again confirmed its position as one of the leading venues in Europe for major, high profile events.

The most recent announcement being the contract to host the new Soccerex European Forum from 2010 to 2013.

Soccerex is the largest business to business event in Europe for the football industry.

Lesley Tomlinson, Chief Executive of Manchester Central, commented, “This is another memorable day for the City and Manchester Central. The vision and commitment to significantly invest in our venue is paying dividends. The multi-million pound redevelopment programme is attracting new business from many different sectors, including corporate, leisure, political and associations. In a city with such a rich sporting heritage, we hope Soccerex will feel at home for many years to come”.

The 2010 Soccerex Forum will take place on 2nd and 3rd March and is expected to attract up to 1,500 delegates over two days. Soccerex is the largest business event for European football with a programme of keynote speakers and networking sessions. It attracts major stakeholders, investors, sponsors and footballing legends.

Manchester Central has already proved its expertise in delivering large-scale and complex conferences. It has an enviable location in the heart of the city close to major travel hubs, meaning it is well placed to attract international events such as Soccerex. It works with a range of hotels, from budget to five-star, providing over 2,500 bedrooms within a five minute walk of the venue.

Manchester Central was the first venue in a major city centre location to host political party conferences with the Labour Party Conference in 2006. This success was repeated with the Labour Conference in 2008 and the political world will descend on the venue again in October 2009, when the Conservative Party returns to Manchester for its first annual conference in the city for 101 years.

In addition to its success in the political sector, Manchester Central is winning new clients across a range of sectors, as well as industry-leading events in business and finance.

Lesley added, “Soccerex represents another significant business win for us and demonstrates the effectiveness of our ‘Manchester partnership’ approach, whereby we work closely with Marketing Manchester, Manchester City Council and the North West Development Agency to secure these major events for the city. As the venue hosting these major events, we aim to deliver first class service, so that clients are enthusiastic about returning to Manchester, thereby increasing our contribution to the city’s economy”.
