The Milan Convention Centre housed, from 12 to 16 of June, the 19th European Meeting of Hypertension, which has been managed, as usual, by AIM Group.
One of the largest European Congresses, the most relevant scientific event dedicated to hypertension, this year gave a significant help to the environment.
Within the meeting industry a new consciousness has been growing during the last years: the negative impact produced on the environment by the large meeìtings can and must be reduced.
Keeping under control the delegates travels, the local transportation, the paper consumption, the energy waste: the concept of "green meetings" is based on these principles.
AIM Group, with the full support of the European Meeting of Hypertension and of the Organizing Committee, has introduced some "eco-friendly" principles.
First of all a great effort has been dedicated to reduce the paper use to a minimum: e-mailing was the main communication system and on-line processes (registrations, abstract handling, hotel reservations) assured a paperless system.
Ecologycal paper and vegetable-based ink have been used for printed material.
The congress bags were made of recycled cotton and regenerated leather.
Pens, badge holders and laces were biodegradable and were collected at the end of the congress.
Finally, during the event, the energy saving distinguished many services: recycling implementation, cloth instead of paper napkins during coffee break and meals, water stations at disposal in order to limit the consumpion of plastic bottles...
The congress has been attended by nearly 6.000 delegates and 160 speakers: the four-day scientific sessions included 9 satellite symposia, and a large industrial exhibition counted in 37 booths.
