The Estonian Convention Bureau was named one of the nation's top three "Tourism Innovators" of 2009 at an Enterprise Estonia (EAS) awards ceremony held earlier this week.
The ECB, along with two other organisations, received nominations for the prize.
When announcing the honours, Enterprise Estonia said the nomination was based on the fact that although the ECB was launched only last year it has already taken conference tourism promotion in the nation to a new level.
It also called ECB's efforts the largest-ever cooperation between private and public sectors in the Estonian tourism industry.
"We are extremely proud to have been given this honour by Enterprise Estonia. Our whole team has worked extremely hard and accomplished a lot since we started up last March, but there's still a lot more to do and the hard work will continue," said the ECB's Managing Director, Riine Tiigi.
The nomination was announced in a gala ceremony held on September 15 at the Estonia Concert Hall, the culmination of an annual competition organised by Enterprise Estonia. The awards were presented by Estonian President Toomas-Hendrik Ilves.
Other categories included Best Investor, Best Innovator, Best Enterprise and Best Exporter. The top prize in the "Tourism Innovator" category went to the Narva Museum.
