The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) has won the bid to host the 12th European Plastic Surgery Congress (ESPRAS) in Edinburgh.
The successful bid proposal was coordinated with the help of Congrex UK and the Edinburgh Convention Bureau and will bring an estimated 1,000 delegates to the Scottish city in 2014.
This event will mark the first time the event will be held in Scotland and is indeed the first time an international meeting on Plastic Surgery will be held in the UK since 1959.
The BAPRAS bid was presented at the 11th ESPRAS Congress in Rhodes earlier this year by Chris Khoo, a former President and European Board member, Helen Roberts, BAPRAS Senior Administrator and Krystina Snaith, Account Manager from Congrex
UK.
“It was important to remind voting delegates of the founding of the British Association in 1946, its longstanding connections with Europe in the training of surgeons, and its extensive experience in organising Meetings and Conferences” said Chris Khoo.
The key success of the bid was also the choice of destination, with the bid team focusing on the advantages of Edinburgh as an easily accessible historic city.
It was also the high quality conference facilities in the state-of-the-art Edinburgh International Conference Centre
(EICC) as well as the many unique venues for the social programme, which helped the bid proposal.
BAPRAS, working closely with Congrex
UK, have formed a local organising committee to manage the 12th ESPRAS Congress. Krystina Snaith, Congrex
UK, is very pleased with the collaboration between BAPRAS and Congrex
.
“The 12th ESPRAS Congress is an extremely prestigious congress to organise, and we are delighted to have been able to work with BAPRAS and the Edinburgh city partners from the outset, through the bidding process to what we very much hope will be a hugely successful event that will attract a record attendance for an ESPRAS Congress in Edinburgh in 2014”.
