A review website dedicated to the events industry launched this week. The portal focuses on independent reviews of event venues and suppliers, written by event planners for event planners.
ReviewEvents.com goes live with more than 12,000 worldwide conference, meeting and event venues, plus a Supplier Database covering everything from AV and Production to teambuilding and corporate entertainment.
Users can review existing venues and suppliers or add their own to the site.
"ReviewEvents.com is unique both in being the world's first dedicated review site for events and in terms of our global reach," added Managing Director Sarah Crysell.
ReviewEvents.com is user-friendly, quick and independent, offering event planners the reassurance when deciding which venues and suppliers to use. We believe this will quickly become the biggest global database of corporate event venues and suppliers available."
A test version of Review Events was opened to a global focus group on 25 June and reviews have already topped 100.
"ReviewEvents.com is designed to do for events what the likes of Trip Advisor have achieved for consumer travel," said ReviewEvents Brand Manager James Thornton.
"Planners responsible for large budgets are increasingly having to justify their spend. Against that backdrop it is vital corporates and agencies can benchmark venues and suppliers. ReviewEvents.com provides that service."
Venue and supplier searches are automatically linked to other local options, using the 'Nearby Venues & Suppliers' feature. This collates all listings within a five mile radius of the initial search.
The site also offers free Venuefinding and RFP services.
Among the winners so far are Sheraton's San Diego Hotel and Marina, of which one US planner said: "This venue has terrific facilities and views. There are over 1000 rooms, yet it contrives not to seem excessive in scale. I recommend it unreservedly."
Less positive was the reaction to the UK's Hilton Birmingham Metropole by one corporate, who commented: "My problem is that two delegates at the same event could have VERY different experiences depending on which part of the hotel they stay in. The refurbished bedrooms are in keeping with a four star, but the old rooms leave a lot to be desired. I suspect even Worzel Gummidge would ask to change rooms."
