Two of the most important meetings industry associations, ICCA and UIA have both ranked Budapest among the top 10 most popular conference destinations in the World.

According to the latest publications of the Union of International Associations (UIA), Budapest jumped to the 8th place on the list of the most attractive conference destinations in the World.

This is a great achievement compared to the previous year, when Budapest ranked 24th on the list.

The Hungarian capital has ranked even better on the ICCA's list, and maintained its 6th place among the most popular meetings cities in the World. The Union of International Associations distinguishes three different categories based on the size- duration- and the organizers of the events. Hungary achieved the 20th place in the categories A and B and 21th in the category C, with 175 conferences held in the country.

In 2007 Hungary ranked 27th in the annual UIA ranking. Budapest achieved 8th place in all the three categories with 141 events, thus forerun cities like London and Copenhagen.

Year after year, more and more Hungarian cities appear on the UIA's statistical analysis.

In 2008, 14 cities hosted conferences that fulfil the requirements of the association (Balatonalmádi, Balatonfüred, Budapest, Debrecen, Győr, Lajosmizse, Miskolc, Pécel , Pécs, Siófok, Sopron, Szeged, Székesfehérvár, Veszprém).
