A New Look unveiled for EventBritain

visit_britainVisitBritain, Britain's national tourist agency, will head to IMEX (26-28 May 2009) with an award-winning 'Britain for Events' DVD and a fully stocked suite of services on its new look eventBritain website.

The launch of this activity comes at a challenging time for the business travel market but shows VisitBritain's commitment to those organisations that rely on events travel.

The site, www.eventbritain.co.uk will raise the UK's profile as destination of choice for business, cultural and sporting events.

The business visits and events team will be on stand (F360) ready to discuss meetings, incentive travel and event marketing needs to maximise the benefits for British business tourism.

No matter how big or small, events are important in contributing to the UK's £114 bn visitor economy and the variety on offer here is neatly wrapped up in the 'Britain for Events' film. Coming top in the events category at the 2009 ITB Berlin Film Awards, this promotional brand film showcases Britain's outstanding venues, and unique experiences seen throughout the nations and region, coupled with its easy and increasingly affordable connectivity. It also focuses on our well-established record of winning and hosting global events -- especially large scale conventions and international sporting competitions.

The DVD can also be viewed on eventbritain.co.uk, which guides bidding organisations through the process of bidding for or marketing events and shows how eventBritain can support a proposal through each stage of the process. Once details of the bid are submitted to the eventBritain team, a bid organiser has access to a useful toolkit that provides a downloadable brochure outlining the support the eventBritain team can offer; e-banners, images, promotional copy and branded powerpoint slides are available to add weight to the bid.

With exceptional links to our 35 overseas offices, ability to commission tailored research and advice on using the Britain brand, including leveraging the 2012 opportunity, there are many advantages of working with eventBritain. From helping to get endorsements for a bid where appropriate and the capability to forge preferential rates with our industry partners when possible, add the eventBritain website to 'favourites' under the internet toolbar.

Britain's current economic position gives us the added opportunity to engage markets who may be quick to take advantage of favourable exchange rate and host an event in Britain - some for the first time. Event visitors and participants can buy before they fly and save money on the Oyster card and BritRail pass by purchasing them in their own currency. Huge savings can be made on train travel with the BritRail pass, which is available as a 3 day or 7 day ticket and it really allows visitors to explore, getting the most out of there trip.

Joss Croft, VisitBritain's head of business visits and events said: "At a time when business tourism is facing tough challenges, it is important that we provide support to UK partner bidding organisations and reiterate our dedication to help our partners win more global business for Britain, edging out rival destinations. It's time to switch on the floodlights and celebrate the things that make us an extraordinary host destination."
