Malaysia continues to make inroads into the medical meetings and healthcare arena with the hosting of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (the College) Annual Scientific Congress (ASC) 2012.

“To be held over four days at the purpose-built Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, this annual congress will attract some 2,000 surgeons from the Asia Pacific, Australia and New Zealand. The congress is estimated to contribute RM 13.5 million (USD 4.4 million, EUR 3.3 million, AUD 4.4 million) in international visitor expenditure.”
The highlight of the Australian and New Zealand surgical fraternity’s event calendar, the ASC is the College’s largest multi-disciplinary surgical meeting and a major educational activity for fellows and surgeons to explore the myriad scientific programmes and to keep abreast of the latest surgical advancements in a dynamic and international forum.

Delegates will network, brainstorm and engage in dialogue on a series of plenary specialty sessions encompassing subjects such as surgical oncology, medico-legal, pain medicine, surgery education and transplantation surgery, among others during the congress.
Malaysia is no stranger to hosting international medical conferences and Kuala Lumpur has been the host city to the XVIII FIGO World Congress of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) 2006 (8,294 delegates); the 13th International Congress of Infectious Diseases in June 2008 (3,200 delegates) and most recently, the 8th Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons in November 2010 (2,000 delegates).
