Liverpool Unveils New Delegate Welcome Scheme

Jacquie-ReillyLiverpool Convention Bureau launched its new Delegate Welcome Scheme in a bid to be recognised as the most delegate-friendly conference destination.

To mark the launch of the Delegate Welcome, the destination is unveiled a billboard outside Earls Court on Tuesday 1st March.

It was revealed by Liverpool Convention Bureau Manager Carol O’Reilly and Jacquie Rogers, General Manager BT Convention Centre Liverpool and promotes Liverpool as a destination for conference organisers who ‘want the world’.

The Liverpool Delegate Welcome Scheme was officially launched during International Confex on Wednesday 2nd March from 4pm on stand B242.

It acts as a commitment that the city will provide a memorable welcome that delegates will experience before the event, during their journey to the city and throughout their stay. It also builds on the warmth and friendlessness of the people of Liverpool, which the destination is so well known for.

The Delegate Welcome Scheme includes exclusive delegate discounts for Virgin Trains’ high speed service from London to Liverpool and announcements welcoming delegates to the city.

Liverpool hospitality also extends to creating welcome signage and flags at entry points into the city and at local hotels and venues and a free dedicated accommodation booking service.

A delegate-specific section has also been created on the Liverpool Convention Bureau website full of useful information and offers, as well as an online social programme booking service.

For large conferences, Liverpool Convention Bureau has launched an interactive delegate mapping service as part of the welcome, allowing visitors to view and book participating venues and accommodation, ideal for those unfamiliar with the city.

“A host city can make or break an event, which is why we have tried to ensure that every part of a delegate’s journey into Liverpool for their event is as enjoyable as it can be and will ensure that they return as visitors in the future,” comments Carol O’Reilly, Liverpool Convention Bureau Manager.

Carol continues; “We have already held events for our ‘front line’ staff to communicate the importance of the delegate experience to local business and received excellent feedback from delegates.  We intend to build on this to make the Liverpool Welcome second to none.”

Jacquie Rogers, General Manager, BT Convention Centre Liverpool said, “We are all ambassadors for Liverpool and collectively we work hard to ensure that the city and our businesses make an impact on clients and their delegates. This scheme, which enables delegates to experience Liverpool from the outset, is something we are proud to support and reaffirms Liverpool’s reputation as one of the friendliest conference destinations in the UK.”
