The Anaheim Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau recently reported that the first six months of 2010 brought in 367 meetings and conventions to Anaheim and Orange County.
Their collective official attendance was 600,927.
According to Charles Ahlers, president of the Anaheim Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau.
"This was a phenomenal year in terms of attendance and the type of high profile groups we hosted in the Anaheim area."
"We had a number of groups that exceeded projected attendance estimates and many who were thrilled with Anaheim's unique meeting campus environment, amenities and world-class meeting and trade show venues."
A few of the significant meetings held from January - June 2010:
- California Dental Association - 30,000
- Canon Communications - 50,000
- NAMM-International Music Products Assn. - 89,000
- Natural Products Expo West - 55,000
- Experimental Biology - 13,000
- Photo Marketing Assn. Int'l - 14,000
- Religious Education Congress - 40,000
In addition, the American Association for Clinical Chemistry achieved an all-time attendance record of more than 21,000 in July.
The Anaheim Convention Center also held two marquee events in June and July:
Amway China - a five-wave VIP incentive event during June, with an economic impact to the area of $10 million and overall attendance of 13,000.
Major League Baseball - "All-Star Summer," with an estimated economic impact to the area of $85 million and an overall, July 9-13, 2010, attendance of 200,000 (120,000 at FanFest held at the Anaheim Convention Center).
Bookings for future years also look promising for the area. The following are just a few of the bookings recently secured for future years:
- American Public Works - August 2012 (3,000 projected attendance)
- ASIS International - September 2015 (25,000 projected attendance)
- Helicopter International Assn. - February 2017 (18,000 projected attendance)
- Distributive Education Clubs of America - April 2017 (16,000 projected attendance)
