More than fifty key academics and businesspeople from Adelaide were put to work in a hands-on experiential tour of the Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC) last weekend.
The tour was part of a two-day Ambassadors Program, designed to unite local industry behind a common goal - increasing Adelaide’s circle of influence among international conference organisers.
The weekend event was organised by the Adelaide Convention Bureau (ACB) and supported by the ACC and other ACB members.
ACC Chief Executive Alec Gilbert said the ACB’s Ambassadors Program, in its second year, was a vital component of the strategy to attract more international conferences to Adelaide.
“This team approach is essential in order for Adelaide to remain competitive and win business over other destinations in Australia and the region,” Mr Gilbert said.
During the tour, delegates were also given an overview of the ACC’s expansion plans.
They enjoyed a dessert making masterclass by the Centre’s Pastry Chef Georg Delago - South Australia’s only Master Pastry Chef - with delegates given an insight into how the ACC retains consistently high standards as it caters for thousands of guests every year.
Delegates also received their own micro vegetable garden – an initiative of the ACC.
