EEAA Kicks Off Industry Briefing On Darling Harbour Redevelopment

eeaaThe Exhibition and Events Association of Australasia (EEAA) is partnering with Infrastructure NSW to deliver a regular program of industry briefings regarding the redevelopment of Sydney International Convention Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct.

EEAA General Manager, Joyce DiMascio said the first in the series would be held on Thursday February 9 and would provide organisers, suppliers and venues the opportunity to hear first-hand the latest news about the redevelopment from Infrastructure NSW, the NSW Government agency responsible for the project.

“Since the NSW Government released its concepts for the site last year, EEAA has been actively engaging the Government and short-listed consortia to ensure the needs of the industry are communicated strongly."

“The redevelopment of Darling Harbour represents an unprecedented opportunity for the city and country, and we want to make sure that the Government gets it right and fully understands the risks and opportunities from the industry’s perspective."

“Our Members are major users of the current Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre and understand the commercial, operational and logistical issues associated with the facilities. Their input is critical and we are pleased we have had good access to Government to communicate the major issues."

“High on the agenda has been influencing the design and functional brief for the Sydney Convention Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct and to ensure that the Government and short-listed consortia put business continuity high on their agendas."

“While we understand that there is bound to be some disruption, we are working with Infrastructure NSW to ensure the impacts of timetabling decisions are fully assessed.” Ms DiMascio said.
