The Convention Industry Council (CIC) along with the Certified Meeting Professional’s (CMP) Board of Directors proudly announced the release of the new CMP recertification application.
The updated application has been modified to ensure relevancy to a broader global meeting professional while ensuring that CMPs are maintaining the high standards of the credential.
The revised application will focus on continued work experience, education and the participation in industry support activities.
“The CMP Board of Directors is pleased that just like the CMP application, released earlier this year, the recertification process accounts for differences among the broader global audience while still setting a high level of knowledge and performance required to maintain the CMP designation,” said Cathy Breden, CAE, CMP, Chief Operating Officer, International Association of Exhibitions and Events and Chair of the CMP Board of Directors.
“We believe that the requirements will continue to demonstrate that the CMP designation is the premiere certification within the meetings, events, exhibition, and hospitality industry.”
All CMPs must recertify every five (5) years. CMPs required to recertify in 2010 have the option to use either the revised application or the previous application.
Requirements to recertify include three (3) years of work experience in the industry and twenty-five (25) hours of continuing education, or ten (10) of the continuing education hours may be supplemented by 3 industry support or professional development activities.
Earning a bachelor’s degree or higher, or international equivalent, in the five-year recertification period, will also satisfy the continuing education requirement.
